I can do SMALL things.

Feeling absolutely overwhelmed with many things this past week, I heard myself say with a loud sigh this morning, "Okay, I can do small things." I figured I could break one task down into "baby steps".

I guess it's time to watch that movie again, "What About Bob?". It's a comedy with Bill Murray. It is all about taking "baby steps" to cope with life. It is laugh-out-loud funny--probably because it points out so many true things about human nature.

I've heard a lot of people quote the scripture about being able to do ALL things ~ big and small ~ through Christ, who strengthens them. Today, that's just too overwhelming. Today I can just do SMALL things, and I hope Christ will give me the strength to do even that. Sometimes I have those days where I just have to TRUST that all of the good stuff I learn and read are true...and hope above all hope, that tomorrow will be better.

LIke an infant who learns how to do very simple things that we as adults take for granted, those tasks are hard for that infant. So is life when trials come we are "infants in them" we are learning how to cope and once we have made it we grow and become stronger. So think of them as grwoing pains. Not fun but you will be stronger. As long as you are moving forward that is a postive thing weither it is baby steps or toddler steps. I know I have felt this way at times. Some times I felt that baby steps were too much. and that breathing was about all i could manage. The only thing that got me through was my knowledge of The Savior and the promises he has made to us if we follow his counsel and commandments. One thing that is repeated over and over in the book of mormon is the theme Bondage and Deliverence. both physical and spiritual. It gives reasons for the bondage and the ways of being delivered. God always delivers those who follow him. hope this helps. Love you. NIN
not sure why I rambeled on about it. :)

Rachel, this is so true. I sometimes feel this exact same way. Sometimes only small things are what I can get through to doing. I hope you are well and that you are feeling better now.

Also, I love that comedy 'What About Bob?" It's fantastically funny :)
